(Hell isn't just suffering; it's so much more then that. It's more horrible then anything you could imgaine. But Heaven is more wouderful then you could imagaine. Jesus didn't die for nothing, he died so we could all spend erternite with him in heaven. He died because he loves you, he loves me, he loves everyone.)
Saying I’m in hell isn’t the same as claiming my life being hell. My point was the world’s being hell, but just a few of us might be able to make something out of it. That “more horrible than anything you could imagine” is already happening on this planet, somewhere at some corner. You might still be too young to realize that.
And if Jesus loved all as you declare, then he couldn’t let what he started to be the beginning of centuries of discriminations and persecutions.
The world in not hell, there is some light in al this darkness and I blive that that light is God. For me he is the one thing in my life that I can hold on to. I am aware of some of the things that are happening in the world. Their is a lot of horrible things in it but their is also a lot of wounderfull things.
Imagine (if your are already marrieed, then just bare with me) you met the most wounderful man or woman. You love this person more then you can bare. You both are now inaged and as you are about to get married. Your father is the leader of a mob. He asks you if you like your almost husband/wife. You then find out that your father threated the life of him/her, and all of his/her family, if he did not marry you. The man / woman has been forced to love you.
God did want us to be forced to love him. That is why he gave us freewill. We can do good things or we can do bad things. When we do bad things, it hurts him. We can also love him or we can reject him. Regardly of what you do, love him or reject him, he will still love you.
Christianity is not a religion, it is faith and belief in Jesus Christ. Unfortunately, most people don't realize this.
As to no solid documentation of Jesus, how about the four gospels in the bible? They were written by men who knew Jesus and spent three years with him. And the reason Jesus was able to endure the torture was because of 2 reasons: 1)God gave him the strength and 2)He chose to take the beatings and the pain, he wanted to! Do you know why?... he did it for you, me, everyone. just look at John 3:16: "For God so loved the World that He gave his only son, so that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life."
The only imperfections in life are human.
PS-hope i wasn't too preach-y, forgive me if i offend you
Ah, you answered yourself at the end: "The only imperfections in life are human." The gospels you mentioned were also human-made therefore imperfect, but that aside, only because the followers of a belief would swear on their honesty and claim their words are proof for something or someone's existence, then expecting me to blindly accept it, are rather fanatically arrogant or are taking me more of a fool than I really am.
Then you talk about eternal life as if it has to be a good thing, even if I'd accept it possible. Not a single person chooses to be born, then this life that's been forced on us with it's imperfections and faults will continue for eternity? And that's supposed to be something for me to be thankful for?
All there is are merely stories and tales that can not be proven or denied in any way. That's not enough for someone like me to set up a whole "belief system." Even if there was a Jesus who got tortured and killed horribly, his pain and death had nothing to do with me ... and if anything, his death brought forth a faith that caused the destruction of a big portion of the world, resulting in too much suffering and death to count today. One could easily say that the pattern still continues.
The best example is your comment on a "cartoon." You might not wanted to be "preach-y" or offending, but the mere idea of a cartoon causing you to feel like you need to defend your beliefs, shows what your faith is capable of turning a human's mind into.
Oh and you might want to look up the definition of the word "religion."
I don't understand how you could think ~isphira answerd herself/hiself? "THE IMPERFECTION IN LIFE ARE HUMANS" that stament is true. It all dates back to the Adam and Eve (Genesis 2:4 -4:24).
God created Man (Adam) the image of himself -> in the image of knowledge and love
Mind and Heart
Think and choose freely
Woman and Man (Eve and Adam) was tempted to taste independence from God (the forbidden fruti). Woman and Man tried to be indepened or equal to God. Man and Woman was meant to be children of God - dependent and innocence. The eseencese of original sin is the choice of the first parents of the human race to be thier own God. The measure of what is good and evil. The first parents rejected their staites as "Children of God".
This is what I bevlive that ~isphira was trying to say...I know I shouldn't be answering for her/him but I wanted to help back him/her up. By the way, what do you mean exalcy by blindly accept it?
Eternal life in heaven. The most wounderful think you could even copperhead! We do not know exactly what heaven looks like or exactly where heaven is. But we know that heaven is very beautiful and everyone will be perefeclty happy there.
The Bible does not tell us much about heaven. Perhaps God knew that since we are people who were made to live on this earth, we would not understand.
The Bible does tell some thing abotu heave, though. One day when Jesus' friend John was liveing alone on an island, Jesus came to him and told him many things that he should write in teh Bible.
After Jesus told John about all the things that wre going to happen, he showed im a beautiful city. The streets were pure gold and the walls were covered with beautiful jewls. There was no sun or moon or stars there, for God's glory made it bright and Jesus was the light. The gates were open day and inght. In the middle of the city was God's throne. A beautful, clear river ran from the throne down the center of the stret, and the ree of life grew there. there was no night. Revelations 12:4 descibes it this way."There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain." And the most exciting of all, Jesus will be there! When you read this wouderful desciption of heave in Rvlations 21:8 - 22:8, it makes you want to go there LOL
Don't you think heaven is a BIG thing to be thankful for? I do
On the news a while back, Mulsus were very offenced of a cartoon. It cause ralies and fights. That's sililer to what you are doing by this cartoon (I think it's very well drawn by the way but it still offences me ) What exacly to you mean by "Turning a human's mind into"?
What I meant by “blindly accepting” is just what you’re doing here. You read something somewhere that sounds like a fairy tale to me, and without needing any proof or even logic behind it, only because it’s pleasing to you, you believe it, and accept it as the truth. What you say is just like I’d read you something from any fantasy book, and claim it to be the history of mankind. And the fact that you only had these “stories” to back up your ideas is … sad.
And you have the nerves to justify the barbaric reaction of those Muslim fanatics who think their religion gives them the right to do anything they want, no matter who they hurt, or what social rights we’ve set for ourselves in this day and age?
Okay, I get that my writeing may be somewhat primary (plus I can't spell LOL). If you think that my belif is "fantasy", that's your oppion. I'm not trying to be disrepectful to your oppions or belifs (even though I am strongly feeling like you are to mine). If I did, I'm sorry. I was just trying to back up the other personas point on how he / she felt when he/she say your comic.
I wasn't trying to justify the reactions of he Muslims. I was just useing that as an example, of how hurted and affened other people can become, if you start making fun of what you they belive in.
Gem, your comments are killing me! You don't HAVE TO leave something you know. lol
Have mercy on that keyboard of yours and don't type so much .. it might break! Not to mention the effects they have on my eyes reading TOO LONG comments of yours on the screen.
Thanks but .... humor? Emm ... who's joking? lol D
To be honest, I haven't seen anyone from 'any' religion who wasn't too sensitive about these things. So I'd say it goes with being an all-I-do-is-according-to-THE-book(s) who wouldn't like to use logic even for a second in what really matters in life.
Be careful about generalizing too much. Not all religious types are closed-minded or refuse to use logic. Granted a lot do, but so do the secular types. I think that is more a "human" thing than a "religious" one. Besides, let them be illogical if they want to. It's not our problem if they can't think their way through the world around them. They choose their place in the world, and so do we.
The foundation of religion is based on faith which is the old and clichť opposite of logic, therefore if someoneís chosen to be religious then that personís ability to use logic trough being used to rely on faith for most parts of his/her life, can be seriously questioned.
And in any case, when I think about an idea or a theme for a cartoon I can not let anything go, tolerate what Iíd think of as being wrong or be careful of anything. Itís not showing or attracting hatred, itís simply making judgments trough personal opinion which I believe cartooning should be like. If everyone who wants to draw a cartoon would move along side the general public opinion or always be politically correct then Ö what would be the point of doing it?
Argh ... Dude! That movie SUCKS!! I'd only watch it again if I were into bondage and masichism, because that was what all the movie was about. If someone's gonna make a story into a movie that's been done over and over, and everyone, I mean EVERYONE, knows the story ... they got to have something new to say or have a new idea or opinion. Then what would be the difference between pornogrophy and that? Only a bigger budget?
That movie is only advertising one individual's pain and sells it as religion ...
The funny part is that I've heard of some of the big fans of Christ loving that movie, which means they loved watching him being tortured for 2 hours! lol
What can we add to the story? Everything! Because you know what? There is NO solid documentation that could prove he even really existed! All we got are second or third hand (or worse) stories and tails from people who weren't there or even alive at the time, and some of them even contradict one another ... You can say the same thing about any famouse fantasy character, yet we've seen so many different versions of them being made and remade again.
And my point was that the movie does not have a story! It's just 2 hours of someone getting tortured, about which I can say that it wasn't that realistic either ... after so much blood lost and pain a person would most likely go unconscious or too weak to even stand. So there's exageration in the moive which gives you the idea that the whole point of the moive is to show you the torture .. nothing else.
If I were interested in that there're other types of videos and movies even in form of documentaries that I could lay my hands on. I don't need someone like Mel Gibson to prove to me how pointless of a movie he can make or how much he wants to advertise for what he believes with spending so much money.
hhmm true.let alone carry a cross up a mountain lol. sounds like you hated the film. i guess its a film you love or hate.i didnt love it .i watched it at a mates house thinking it was going to be completley crap.but did like it.i have no intrest in the bible or relegion though i must add.
